IVC Evidensia supports teams and pets affected by floods in Spain
Last month we watched in dismay as areas of Spain experienced exceptionally heavy rain and devastating floods. Once we confirmed all of our people and their families were accounted for, we immediately turned our focus to how we could help our teams in Spain deliver on our purpose; Healthy Animals, Happy Owners.

From day one we set up a special support line to provide essential treatment for animals impacted by DANA. Our teams in Valencia have already treated more than 60 animals which may have otherwise suffered. Here are just two of those stories:
Xena, a brave female rottweiler, was rescued by a national police officer. She arrived at our AÚNA Veterinary Specialities clinic with severe pneumonia, fatigue, and a constant cough. After three days of intensive care, Xena was able to begin her recovery at a foster home. She continued with antibiotics and nebulisations, gradually reintroducing physical activity. Xena recently returned for follow-up x-rays and is now a really happy dog preparing to find her forever family.
The Military Unit RI 50 of Gran Canaria found an injured dog in the river Magro and brought her to our clinic in Plans Alcalans. Unfortunately she does not have a microchip, so identifying her has been a challenge, but the veterinary team provided the health care and affection she needed. She is now being cared for in a foster home while we find her family or new family take her in.
Dave Martin, Group Head of Animal Welfare, has been liaising with the teams on the ground and the leadership team in the UK; “We wanted to make sure the teams dealing with horrendous conditions knew they had the backing of our whole group. Because IVC Evidensia is really a network of vets, vet nurses and support staff – we’re all here because we care about animals. We had, and still have, support in place through our care fund to treat those animals made ill or injured by the flooding. Every day I hear reports of the amazing work our teams are doing and it makes me incredibly proud to work with them.”
A huge thank you to all our teams in Spain who have been helping to support the community through such a hard time.
