IVC Evidensia recognises Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week with commitment to responsible antimicrobial stewardship as part of Positive Pawprint sustainability strategy
This week is Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week. At IVC Evidensia, we are committed to responsible antimicrobial stewardship as a key commitment within our Positive Pawprint sustainability strategy. Thanks to the commitment of our teams, we have made significant progress over the past few years. Here are two examples:

Willow Vet Group, part of IVC Evidensia, reduced their antibiotic use by 26% in 2024. A key focus for the team has been non-antibiotic treatments for chronic diarrhoea, using probiotics, dietary changes, and anti-inflammatory medicines after thorough diagnostics examinations to rule out potential underlying causes.
Larger referral hospitals face significant challenges due to the severity of the diseases they treat. Despite this, the team at Evidensia Specialistdjursjukhuset Strömsholm achieved an impressive 23% reduction in antibiotic use over the past three years. They implemented daily antibiotic rounds, improved diagnostics, patient chart templates, regular case discussions, and wider non-antibiotic treatments to minimise overuse and misuse of antibiotics.
Thank you to all our teams working hard to ensure the animals we treat receive the best and most appropriate care.
